Poems
Expressing my feelings has always come easier to me in this medium, so it seemed natural to intersperse the story with my heartfelt verse.
The first poem I wrote relevant to my grief was "Never" and the rest just followed. I hope they bring comfort to whoever reads them.
WHISPERED WORDS....
Are the whispers of our souls, the whispers of our hearts, the words you and I find difficult to verbalize - the whispered words of quiet hours. They are the thoughts that invade our tired minds in the silence of solitude or an explosion of kaleidoscopic colour running riot over the canvas or our imagination. With the freedom of an artist's brush dipped in a myriad of colour, we allow the sunlit, sparkling, happy memories to shine through the darkness of our sadness. We should express our frustration and our anger, and let gentle, growing words soothe our feelings and heal our hearts. Expression of our emotions in writing is therapeutic and hugely beneficial to us and others.
I recently read this quote somewhere - "Adversity introduces a man to himself". Although I would not have agreed, I know that our own inhibitions, or those of others, prevent us from expressing what is inside ourselves and who we really are.
A Mother's Prayer
You took my child to a promised land,
Please help me, Lord, to understand,
Why he's with You and not with me
My God I'm trying hard to see
Why he's with You and not with me?
My son, he was from heaven sent,
For those few years, was he just lent?
The tears are showers of my love.
Dear God You have my child now,
Just hidden from my view
I'll hold him close within my heart
Please hold him close to You.
